More big mountains opening for skiing & riding in B.C.

lisanixon-lg.jpgThis season marked the opening of Revelstoke in British Columbia – one of six new ski & riding projects in British Columbia.

On the edge of the Selkirk Range, Revelstoke will be offering over 6,000 feet of vertical which is the longest in North America.  With light snow, huge vertical, and massive amounts of acres to explore, we’re putting Revelstoke at the top of our list for this spring. We have a friend working at the mountain and hope to bring you an insiders view of the mountain soon.

With the Olympics just around the corner, the B.C. government has approved all sorts of other projects aimed at increasing overall tourism to the province. Here’s a few other projects to keep an eye on:

  1. Mount baldy, South Okanagan (Expansion)
  2. Crystal Mountain, Kelowna (Expansion)
  3. Canoe Mountain, Valemont (New mountain)
  4. Saddle Mountain,  Blue river. I couldn’t find their actual website, but here’s a link to the area.
  5. Jumbo Glacier, Invermere. The most exciting and the most controversial of them all. Jumbo would be the first 12 month ski / riding mountain in North America.

I don’t know about you, but moving to British Columbia is looking more attractive all the time! In the mean time, look for reviews & updates of each in the near future.

I’m skiing Revelstoke from the 21st Feb. on I may go elsewhere on my second week but have to back to Kelowna by the 4th Mar. Take a look at this free lift ticket for double occupancy . I’m traveling alone so i can’t qualify but $77.00 with free lift ticket seems a bargain for you. Enjoy the thrill.
